From a Grilling Fiasco to a BBQ Revolution

OUTDOORCHEF's origins are as unique as our products: In 1992, Mike Lingwood failed in his attempt to conjure up a stress-free BBQ for his daughter's birthday guests. Grease fires, smoke, and charred food led to the realization: grilling had to be easier, safer, and better. His inventiveness and some experiments with a washing machine drum finally brought about the breakthrough: the OUTDOORCHEF funnel system – a now legendary, two-part heat system that prevents grease flames, distributes heat evenly, and enables temperatures of up to 500°C. To this day, it remains a trademark of our kettle grills – and a symbol of our quest for better and easier grilling.

Our technologies – such as the Gourmet Burner System (GBT) for precise temperature control from 80–360°C or the Gas Safety System (GSS) for safe grilling in any weather – offer outstanding control and convenience. 1996	The first OUTDOORCHEF gas kettle grills (Classic Kettle 570 & 480) were launched – a true revolution.
1999	OUTDOORCHEF was founded in Switzerland. Development and design began in Zurich.
2004	Introduction of the ROMA 570 – the first gas kettle grill with a double burner.
2005	Development of the first pizza and bread baking stone – still a bestseller today.
2006–10	Optimization of the unique funnel system – for greater safety and grilling convenience.
2009	OUTDOORCHEF becomes part of Diethelm Keller Brands and gains access to international markets.
2017	Dualchef Line: Kettle system installed for the first time in a square grill housing with the Dual Gourmet System (DGS®).
2018	Foundation of OUTDOORCHEF AG as an independent subsidiary of the Diethelm Keller Group. Launch of the Lugano 570 G – new standards in design, technology, and functionality. Introduction of the Gourmet Check Pro – smart temperature monitoring via smartphone.
2020	AROSA 570 G – reduction to the essentials with a minimalist design language and revolutionary grilling technology.
2021	Introduction of the Dualchef 452 G – compact high-end gas grill with the innovative DGS® system.
